Preparing Your Wichita Home for Spring: A Seasonal Refresh

As the snow melts and the days begin to lengthen, spring beckons with renewed energy. It’s the perfect time to revitalize your Wichita home with a thorough spring cleaning and preventative maintenance. This seasonal refresh not only prepares your home for the warmer months but also helps to identify and address any potential issues that may have arisen during the winter.

1. Maintenance:

Exterior maintenance is paramount for safeguarding your Wichita home against the unpredictable forces of nature. The exterior acts as the first line of defense, shielding the interior from rain, wind, sun, and temperature fluctuations. Neglecting this crucial aspect can lead to a cascade of problems, from water damage and mold growth to compromised structural integrity and decreased energy efficiency. Regular maintenance, such as gutter cleaning, power washing, and roof inspections, prevents these issues from escalating, saving homeowners significant time and money in the long run.

Beyond the practical benefits, exterior maintenance also plays a vital role in preserving and enhancing your home’s curb appeal. A well-maintained exterior reflects pride of ownership and creates a welcoming atmosphere for both residents and visitors. Power washing removes unsightly grime and mold, restoring the vibrancy of siding and decks. Freshly cleaned gutters and a well-kept roof contribute to a polished appearance, increasing your home’s overall value and making it more attractive to potential buyers. In essence, investing in exterior maintenance is an investment in both the longevity and the aesthetic appeal of your Wichita home.

This task list includes:

  • Gutter Cleaning: * Winter can leave your gutters clogged with leaves, debris, and ice dams.
    • Clean gutters thoroughly to ensure proper drainage.
    • Inspect for any damage, such as cracks or loose sections, and repair or replace as needed.
    • Consider installing gutter guards to prevent future clogs.
  • Power Washing: * Give your home’s exterior a deep clean with a power washer.
    • Remove dirt, grime, mold, and mildew from siding, decks, patios, and driveways.
    • Be cautious when power washing delicate surfaces like wood or vinyl.
    • Consider hiring a professional power washing service for best results.
  • Roof Inspection: * Inspect your roof for any signs of damage, such as missing shingles, loose flashing, or leaks.
    • Look for any signs of moss or algae growth, which can weaken shingles.
    • If you notice any significant damage, contact a qualified roofing contractor for repairs.
  • Yard Clean-up: * Rake up leaves and debris from your lawn and flower beds.
    • Trim back overgrown branches and shrubs.
    • Aerate your lawn to improve drainage and promote healthy growth.
    • Fertilize your lawn to encourage lush green growth.

2. Interior Maintenance:

Interior maintenance is the cornerstone of a comfortable, healthy, and functional living space within your Wichita home. It goes beyond mere aesthetics, impacting the air quality, structural integrity, and overall well-being of your family. Regular interior upkeep prevents minor issues from escalating into major, costly repairs. For instance, addressing plumbing leaks promptly can prevent water damage and mold growth, while ensuring proper HVAC maintenance maintains optimal air quality and energy efficiency. By proactively tending to the interior, homeowners create a safe and inviting environment where daily life can flourish.

Moreover, interior maintenance contributes significantly to the longevity and value of your home. Keeping interior systems and finishes in good condition preserves their functionality and appearance, protecting your investment. Simple tasks like deep cleaning, checking for winter damage, and testing safety devices contribute to a sense of security and comfort. A well-maintained interior not only enhances your personal enjoyment of the space but also makes your home more appealing to potential buyers should you decide to sell. Ultimately, interior maintenance is an essential investment in the health, comfort, and long-term value of your Wichita home.

I was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. I grew up around construction, remodeling, maintenance and all of that, my dad was one of those fix anything types and so we never called someone to come work on the house. I also was able to tag along with my dad when he had a job of his own to complete that had to do with construction or remodel or repair. Throughout high school and college I worked in the trades doing everything from carpentry to concrete in both residential and commercial applications. I also ran my own cabinet shop while in high school and college and knew that I wanted to work for myself and go out on my own in business, I graduated with a Bachelors of science in business administration and small busienss management in 2014. I met my wife Danielle while working maintenance for our churches summer camp, Danielle and her family were all from Wichita Kansas. After graduation I married Danielle and we moved to Wichita Kansas to start our own journey. I started Wichita Home works in 2015 with just one main floor kitchen remodel and one guy doing the work, it went very well and the rest is history. We built some key relationships along the way while learning and building wichita home works, we spun off quite a few businesses and divisions such as Integrity trade services, and complete concrete solutions, mainly out of necessity. We found it increasingly difficult to find trades that would live up to our high expectations and therefore we decided to do it ourself.
